Edna Mae Bolinger, 89, passed away at home Aug. 24,2019, after a prolonged illness with her daughters by her side.
Edna was born in Sheridan, Wyoming, Sept. 11, 1929, to Claude and Edna (Jones) Elliott.
Edna was a life-long resident of Dayton and Sheridan, Wyoming, graduating from Dayton High School and Hineman’s Business School. While raising her family, Edna worked for Sheridan Iron Works, the Department of Family Services, and later retired from the Highway Department, now WYDOT, in 1988.
Edna was a caring, nurturing person. She was an excellent cook and hosted many family gatherings. At Christmas, she baked many cookies, made candy, and her famous applesauce cake and sent packages to her loved ones filled with just the right gift for each person. Her great-grandsons really looked forward to that special package from Great Grandma. On each birthday, she sent gifts not only to the one celebrating, but to all the children in the family. Edna crocheted many beautiful afghans for family and friends. When each baby was born, they received an afghan. When she was younger, she sewed beautiful quilts for each of her children and many friends. Her crocheted kitchen towels were a hit among family and friends. She liked to go out to lunch with friends and family and was always vigilant to go to the place where everyone could get something special to eat.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jeff; her sisters Dorothy McDonald and Hazel Isabel “Izzy” Shaw.
She is survived by her children: Debra Clemens, Sherry Schwabauer, Cindy (Brad) Huson and David Schwabauer; step-children, Charlie (Mike) Lovejoy, Carol (Bob) Gridley, and Cliffton “Gene” Bolinger; six grandchildren: Jerry Clemens, Michael Schwabauer, Amy (Bryan) Vigen, Scott (Liz) Huson, Seth Schwabauer, and Spencer Schwabauer; great-grandchildren: Aidan, Carter, and Logan Huson; cousin Shirley Schwehr and brothers Kenneth Elliott and Richard Osborn.
Edna is greatly missed. In memory of her, spend time with a child or go to lunch with a friend.
