Pursuit Begins and Ends Near Acme
A 40-year-old Florida woman was arrested yesterday afternoon after leading law enforcement on a pursuit midmorning that crossed state lines.
Tammie Lewis, of Pompano Beach, Florida, allegedly fled from Billings, Montana. Police notified their Wyoming counterparts to be on the lookout for a white SUV with Colorado plates.
Both the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office and Wyoming Highway Patrol responded to assist.
According to a press release from SCSO Sheriff Allen Thompson, a deputy located the vehicle near Acme and attempted to stop it around 12:30 p.m.
The female driver, later identified as Lewis, reportedly did not stop and continued to elude deputies and troopers eastbound through Sheridan. WHP troopers deployed spike strips near mile marker 38 on Interstate 90, approximately 13 miles east of Sheridan.
Lewis crossed the median and continued to travel west back toward Sheridan with two flat tires.
A deputy deployed another set of spike strips near mile marker 20, and the driver stopped in the median near Acme.
Lewis was arrested without further incident, according to the release. In addition to possible charges in Montana, she also faces charges of possession of a controlled substance, failing to maintain a lane of travel, and eluding an officer.
