Weatherby’s Grand Opening is Finally Here
The long-awaited grand opening of Weatherby Inc.’s new Sheridan headquarters will happen tomorrow, June 13.
According to the Wyoming Business Council, Weatherby, “…estimates total employment to be 70-90 positions by year four or five. The company will relocate its C-level executives and other senior-level talent. For business continuity, it will relocate other willing employees. The estimated number of total relocated jobs is 20. The remaining jobs (approximately 50-70 positions above average area wages) will be hired locally. The business will have an annual payroll of over $5,000,000. The business estimates the average wages to be between $60,000 and $74,000.”
The WBC estimates an additional 50 indirect jobs will be created throughout the community by other businesses over five years based on Weatherby’s activity in the community. They predict the local sectors that will see the greatest impact include: fabricated metals, wholesale trade, trucking, telecommunications, finance and insurance, professional services, administrative support, and health and food services.
WBC staff also estimate that Wyoming’s brand equity will gain between $10 million-$20 million over 20 years because of the company’s move. Weatherby estimates that they will have approximately 2,000 visitors annually to their new corporate facility. Using economic modeling, the WBC estimates lodging tax impacts of $198,400 over 20 years.
Weatherby began hiring in January, hiring at least 20 local employees, and began production in March. The first firearms built in the new facility in Sheridan were the new Wyoming Commemorative rifles. There are two versions of the Wyoming Commemorative rifles, the Gold and the Silver. Both versions are chambered in the world-famous .300 Weatherby Mag and feature the widely recognizable “Bucking Horse and Rider” engraved on the floor plate.
From 9 am. to 12:30 p.m., Weatherby will host tours, food trucks, live music, and raffles. Additionally, merchandise and discounted sales will be available in the lobby and on the patio.
At 1 p.m., the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony that will include a flag raising, speeches from the Weatherby family, First Lady Jenny Gordon, former Governor Matt Mead, and others from Sheridan and the Wyoming Business Council.
The Ceremony will conclude with a short live auction featuring Wyoming Mark V Commemoratives (Serial Numbers WY000003 and WY000307), a Limited Edition Chris Kyle Special (#2 of 26), a Field Worn custom with one of the first Wyoming stamped receivers outside of the commemoratives, and a custom that includes range time with Adam Weatherby on the company’s 300 yard underground range.
