After a Decade, Sheridan County Comprehensive Plan Gets an Update
The process of updating the Sheridan County Comprehensive Plan is in the quiet phase right now, according to County Planner Mark Reid. However, a draft of the updated document should be ready for public comment early this summer.
The county’s last comprehensive plan was released in 2008. The plan is used as a guide as the county considers capital improvements, zoning changes, and other land use determinations.
Comments collected at the community workshop held in December last year are all available for review online. And Reid said comments can still be made on the contact tab of the same link.
Behind the scenes, data from the 2008 plan is being revised to reflect the changes in the community over the last 10 years, or so, including population, zoning maps, and new developments.
Orion Planning and Design is the consultant assisting the county on the project.
Reid said the 12-member Citizen Advisory Committee has also put a lot of time and effort into updating the plan.
The final plan is expected to be adopted by the Sheridan County Commissioners by the end of this year.
