Sheridan College To Screen Live Workshop With Sharon Louden
(Sheridan, Wyo.) On Saturday, Sept. 15 from 10 a.m. to noon, Sheridan College will screen a live broadcast of a professional development workshop by artist Sharon Louden.
The event is free, open to the public, and will be held in the Edward A. Whitney Academic Center, room 207.
Artist Wendy Red Star and curator Lisa Hatchadoorian will be joining Louden in explaining how artists can create their own opportunities, establish their goals, and ultimately reach those goals.
Wyoming Arts Council Assistant Director Rachel Clifton said that Louden is a proponent of bringing different perspectives into the discussion. Louden has worked with both Red Star and Hatchadoorian before.
“Those three different perspectives give a more well-rounded session,” Clifton said.
The trio will also highlight the lives of various artists to show audience members examples of how to live a more creative life.
The actual event is occurring in Laramie and is being broadcast to numerous locations in the state, but attendees in each satellite location will have the opportunity to ask questions.
The event is part of a larger effort by Louden to create a network in Wyoming.
“She’s definitely doing some different things in Wyoming,” Clifton said. “She actually has an exhibition up right now in the lobby at the UW Art Museum in Laramie… and then she’s also going to be doing a series of studio visits with different visual artists following that.”
Clifton said there is a high probability Louden will be back in the Cowboy State next year.
“We’re looking at possibly bringing her back in a year to follow up with some of those artists, maybe do some more studio visits, maybe do another professional development session of some sort,” Clifton said. “We haven’t worked out the details about that yet, but she’s very interested in working with Wyoming artists and kind of creating a network for them across the state.”
