(Sheridan, Wyo.) According to Eric Bouley, president of Fletcher Construction, the Sheridan YMCA’s new aquatic center is on schedule for completion in 2019.
Bouley said it might not look like it, but much of the complex work has already been accomplished. “You work underground and bury it,” Bouley said, “and the most difficult part is people can’t see it. It looks like not a lot has happened.” Soon, the walls will go up and it will seem like it “happens all at once.”
Although the project is quite complex, with water piping, pools, etc., Bouley said it isn’t outside Fletcher Construction’s comfort zone, and compared it to a 40 bed nursing home they built in Buffalo.
The plan is to continue through winter, unlike last year when there was no way to heat the site. Walls, structural steel, floors, and a roof over the locker rooms will give them the ability to heat the interior. “The main area may prove to be more of a challenge to “dry in” and hold heat in the winter months,” Bouley said.
“It’s a challenge when winter’s closing in. I know it’s hard to say that when it’s 90 degrees, but I’m already nervous about winter.”
