(Sheridan, Wyo) The Sheridan Police Department is one step closer to outfitting its officers with body cams.
The Sheridan Press reports that the SPD is considering seven proposals to provide the cameras from around the country. The proposals cover a wide price range, including “one of the least expensive options” from Axon Enterprises, Inc. out of Scottsdale, Arizona, at $76,928.09 and, the most expensive, Federal Signal out of University Park, Illinois, at $171,325
The Sheridan Police Department received the Department of Justice Body Worn Camera Grant last year and put out a request for proposals. “Sheridan Police Department is soliciting proposals from qualified companies to provide the Sheridan Police Department, with approximately 28 officer worn body cameras,” the request reads. “In addition, companies must provide a video storage solution, which partners with the provided body worn cameras, to store, manage, retrieve and share captured digital video. Qualified companies will also provide a Service Agreement which includes service on equipment, hardware and software for up to five (5) years.”
If you haven’t already contributed, the Sheridan WY Police and Fire Facebook page has a poll to gauge the public’s feelings about body cams.
