(Sheridan, Wyo) In 1923, the Lotus Theater, “Wyoming’s Wonder Picture Palace,” opened. Now known as The WYO Theater, it has been through a lot of changes over the decades, but you can still catch a good old fashioned Western talkie on the big screen.
If you missed the first of the Classic Western Film Series, you still have three more Sunday’s in January to make it:
January 14 – The Professionals co-hosted by Gene Sturlin & Tommy B. An arrogant Texas millionaire hires four adventurers to rescue his kidnapped wife from a notorious Mexican bandit. Starring Burt Lancaster, Lee Marvin, Jack Palance, and Claudia Cardinale.
January 21 – Suppport Your Local Gunfighter co-hosted by Gene Sturlin & Aaron Odom. A con artist arrives in a mining town controlled by two competing companies. Both companies think he’s a famous gunfighter and try to hire him to drive the other out of town. Starring James Garner, Harry Morgan and Suzanne Pleshette.
February 11 – Welcome to Hard Times co-hosted by Gene Sturlin & Mary Brannaman. A sociopathic stranger all but destoys a small hardscrabble town but the ‘mayor’ convinces its survivors to stay and rebuild. Starring Henry Fonda, Janice Rule and Keenan Wynn.
